winter whites.

photos by mina vang

coat: bb dakota | grey sweater: random (old) | white dress worn as a shirt: herff christiansen from arrow | white cords: l'agence from arrow | bejeweled hand piece & ring: lionette by noa sade | fringe booties: jeffrey campbell (old) | sunnies: karen walker

in staying true to my obsession of wearing baggy clothing, here i am wearing nothing that fits me. in terms of layering, my favorite thing to do as of late is to wear dresses over pants and just stopping short of looking hobo-esque. or maybe not.

new lengths.

photos by lilly chow

sweater robe: foreign exchange | tshirt: AA | necklaces & rings: lionette by noa sade | thigh high socks: freepeople | tote bag: h&m | booties: target

lionette sent over some cool, new pieces - all of which i'm wearing in here, except for the hand piece which is so amazing it deserves a post of its own.

also, this floor length sweater/duster my little sister gifted me is my new favorite thing next to the drake shake app of course.

home tour: sunday best.

photos by me

a little home tour now that i sort of have some parts of the house pretty much together, there are no kitchen shots for good reason - it's a mess! PS. see how many photos you can spot charlie in, she sure loves the limelight.

photos include:

leftovers from yesterday's photoshoot with michael & minnetonka moccasin, a snow-covered charlie, my new flavor-of-the-month clothing rack, coffee table books, a serious shoe game, some new bling from lionette by noa sade, natural sunlight, fresh hydrangeas in a ceramic pineapple vase, my favorite mismatched stud earrings and remnants of what was supposed to be a girl's night out of dancing that quickly turned into a night in that included pizza, beer, a 90's chic flick w/a throwback james franco & NSYNC live in madison square garden on repeat.

relax!
you are enough,
you have enough,
you do enough.

uniform.

 photos are selfies

striped oxford: the lady & the sailor from arrow | skinnies: jonathan saunders x target | heels: zara | bag: h&m | scarf: urban outfitters

changed up a basic uniform by adding a scarf and giving it the marc jacobs tie knot touch. kinda digging the way it works almost like a choker necklace.

replay.

so nice, i had to share this thrice. even after her reign at vogue paris came to an end, carine roitfeld continues to produce the illest ish. the latest being this fashion video from her new baby, CR fashion book. all rolled into one, 'entropy' showcases amazing clothes, a story and a bit of drama - with a twist at the end. best part? the soundtrack is childish gambino's 'zealots of stockholm'. ahhh, she clearly knows the way to my heart. #onheavyrotation

the (sparkly) hangover.

collage made by me via polyvore

After the holidays and especially following all the NYE debauchery, I'm sure most of you guys woke up with a hangover. But if you're anything like me or 90% of the female population, then you probably purchased an unnecessary amount of sequin adorned clothing over the holidays and now you're experiencing a different sort of hangover. This one also includes symptoms of regret and questioning your actions from the night before, such as: "why did I spend so much money on this somewhat hideous sequined body-con dress that I probably will never wear again?" and instead of searching for your car, purse or dignity - you'll be scrambling to find that receipt.

Historically I've eschewed wearing sequins, however this past holiday I went from owning a lone pair of gold sequined hot pants (that I rarely wear except for on lazy Sundays with an oversized oxford shirt and some Nike's) to obtaining enough sparkly pieces to make you think I worked as a Vegas showgirl. Luckily, reserving sequins for special occasions are a thing of the past. I've taken a cue from the sequin queen herself, Ms. Mrs. Sarah Edwards who has nearly mastered, if not perfected the art of paring down these unconventional and fragile pieces for everyday wear.

To spark some inspiration, I've created outfits built around actual sequined pieces I own. Enjoy!

marie claire.

photo c/o marie claire

flannel: uniqlo | trousers: topshop | heels: zara

if you picked up the december issue of marie claire, you'll notice they gave a little shoutout to minneapolis (haaaaay!). by a happy coincidence, i came across my photo on pinterest so i thought i'd share. i was fortunate enough to be featured alongside the always adorable ellen dahl of the minneapoline, among other local notable bloggers, designers & fashionistas. nice seeing you on the flipside for once, ellen! :) great way to end the year.

the little things.

photos by lilly chow & myself

chambray shirt: converse (men's) | tshirt: aa | skinnies: jonathan saunders x target | desert booties: target | laces: martinpatrick3 | necklace: c/o lionette by noa sade | mickey mouse hat: gifted | scarf: h&m

this is my lazy sunday outfit, nevermind that it's only thursday.

never underestimate the little details, they can easily transform a boring item into something slightly cooler. swapped out the original laces on these desert booties for some red ones and voila, they're almost like new shoes. almost.

also, my braces are coming off in t-minus 3 months!! thought i would show them off a little before they're gone for good.

going red.

next month - february 16th to be exact, graves hotel will play host to the 3rd annual red dress collection fashion show. produced by cw's carly aplin, it brings awareness to the fact that heart disease is still the #1 killer of women - advocating for women, young & old to take charge of their health. local designers are paired with local "celebs" and tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind red dress that will be showcased in a runway show that evening. sponsored by the university of minnesota physicians heart @ fairview, all proceeds from the show benefit the american heart association's go red for women program

for this particular occasion, i won't be bothered with having to find something beautiful to wear. i'm honored to share that i've been asked to be a part of this event - though, not as a stylist. i'll be walking down the runway in a custom-made piece by the ultra talented knitwear designer, mary pranica. would love for all of you to join me for a night of local fashion, great food, pop-up shops and silent auctions - all in the name of promoting good health & awareness. added bonus? possibly getting to see me make an embarrassment of myself on the runway. tickets can be purchased here

ps. be on the lookout for sneak peaks of mary's dress on my instagram! xo

the art of layering.

photos are (glorified) selfies

turtleneck: bebe | flannel: uniqlo | sweatshirt: lauren moshi from opm boutique | pleather skinnies: h&m | heels: rachel comey from arrow mpls | bolo tie necklace: c/o lionette by noa sade | sequined clutch: c/o the perfect clutch | socks: uniqlo | watch: michael kors

ignore the fact that i have yet to take down my christmas tree. if you know me then you know it'll be there until spring. speaking of spring - wishing it could come just a little bit sooner. currently experiencing negative temps that have me hibernating and putting up way too many gallery walls. on the bright side, my place is starting to come together quite nicely and i think i've nearly mastered the art of layering.

ps. happy new year! only days in & i have tons of exciting news to share, some of which i'll feature in tomorrow's post. xo
