going red.

next month - february 16th to be exact, graves hotel will play host to the 3rd annual red dress collection fashion show. produced by cw's carly aplin, it brings awareness to the fact that heart disease is still the #1 killer of women - advocating for women, young & old to take charge of their health. local designers are paired with local "celebs" and tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind red dress that will be showcased in a runway show that evening. sponsored by the university of minnesota physicians heart @ fairview, all proceeds from the show benefit the american heart association's go red for women program

for this particular occasion, i won't be bothered with having to find something beautiful to wear. i'm honored to share that i've been asked to be a part of this event - though, not as a stylist. i'll be walking down the runway in a custom-made piece by the ultra talented knitwear designer, mary pranica. would love for all of you to join me for a night of local fashion, great food, pop-up shops and silent auctions - all in the name of promoting good health & awareness. added bonus? possibly getting to see me make an embarrassment of myself on the runway. tickets can be purchased here

ps. be on the lookout for sneak peaks of mary's dress on my instagram! xo

stunning stage set up @the state theatre
some pieces from macy's private label Maison Jules, which launched this month & provides us with parisian chic looks inspired by Maje or Sandro. cool fact: the ad campaign was styled by none other - Garance Dore, one of the reigning queens of je ne sais quoi
racks on racks on racks (filled w/designer clothing) backstage.
macy's fashion manager paul anthony explaining that men's briefs too, need to be fitted
some gorgeous models from the show dropping in at our backstage tour
one lucky winner from glamorama will go home with this all white, everything bike - SO perfect, considering minnesota is the bike-friendly state.

last night, macy's held a blogger reception for glamorama. in its 20-plus years, glamorama has sent thousands of designer looks down the runway + raised $5 million for children's cancer research fund

we toured the event space and got a sneak peak at all the designer duds backstage. as a fashion show stylist myself, it was cool to get a glimpse at production on a grander scale. paul anthony, macy's fashion manager runs a tight ship that includes: 7 days of rehearsals + more than 10 hrs of fittings, organizing racks of clothing by model, zip-locking and attaching all accessories/shoes to garments and even having exactly 42 dressers for all of the 42 models (talk about a tight squeeze backstage).

particularly excited about:
- seeing all of the creative styling but especially on maison jules, rachel rachel roy, weekend maxmara & jean paul gaultier for envision fall 2013 styling inspiration
- getting a scoop (or 2 or 3) of vivoli il gelato
- cirque du soleil! need i say more?
- sheryl crow belting out 'my favorite mistake'
- topping it all off with some afterparty fun

i'll be live tweeting + instagramming the entire night, you can follow me here for the play by play:

now all i need is the perfect ensemble & i'll see you guys tomorrow night! xo.
